Volunteering

Why should you use Service Learning in the classroom?

It benefits the students

It benefits the teacher

It benefits the school

and It benefits the community!

This picture was taken on a chilly day at the end of Winter.  I was helping my students fulfill their Academic Service Learning requirement.  The students were able to choose what Academic Service Learning Project they wanted to participate in.  The students served at a variety of places. Some of the students made Easter baskets, some of them worked at the Humane Society, some volunteered at the local elementary schools, but most did Habitat for Humanity.  I think more students chose this option because it allowed for more students to work together and share in their volunteer experience.
